CN!Express CX-6000 FAQ
What is CN!Express CX-6000?
CN!Express CX-6000 is a real-time, high-speed transaction processing solution supporting a variety of Internet and TCP/IP-based merchant processors.
When can I get CX-6000?
CN!Express CX-6000 is available now to existing customers and is located in the Classic Versions Download area. If you would like to upgrade your current CN!Express, or order a new copy please contact sales.
How do I configure CN!Express CX-6000?
Your processor will provide account information, which is entered into the configuration screen. Detailed instructions are provided in the users manual.
How do I upgrade to the new version?
You must contact your Processor Representative and tell them you'd like to upgrade to CN!Express CX-6000. Download the new version and contact us for the Serial Number and Activation Code. Updates to the new versions are free for merchants who are current with their maintenance.
What are the system requirements?
CN!Express Single User runs on Windows 95, 98, NT4, 2000, and XP.
CN!Express AutoProcessor runs on Windows NT4, 2000, and XP.
For either version, we recommend:
- Minimum of 64 MBytes of memory (128 MBytes recommended)
- 20-30 MBytes of Hard Disk (depending on transaction volume)
- Internet Explorer 5.5 or greater with 128-bit encryption installed.
Some processors also require static IP addresses.
How large is the TransactionReferenceKey field?
150 alphanumeric characters.
What is the Transaction Reference Key?
The TransactionReferenceKey field is CN!Expresses internal field that tracks transaction information through the processor's system.
An example is probably the most useful thing:
- Step 1. Customer imports a transaction for Auth-Only.
- Step 2. Auth is approved, CNX exports the transaction.
- Step 3. Customer wants to reimport the transaction for Capture.
In order for us to have all the information we need for each processor to match up the capture with the auth, we require the transaction reference key. The TransactionReferenceKey is used for Captures and Voids, that is, any transaction type that must be matched up with an existing auth. Generally, unless the customer is doing nothing but sale transactions, the customer should both export and import TransactionReferenceKey. On import of transactions that were not previously exported (such as initial auths), the customer can import a blank field for TransactionReferenceKey.
How does the AutoProcessor tell the Difference between Credit Cards and Checks?
The key to distinguishing between checks and credit cards in an import file is the Routing Number field. Records with a value in the Account field and a blank Routing Number field as a Credit Card. Records with a value in the Account and Routing Number fields are treated as a Check. This makes it very easy to mix check and credit card transactions in the same import file.
Does the AutoProcessor work with a Linux/Unix based order entry or accounting system?
Yes! Using SAMBA you can grant access to the shared directory to accomplish your processing needs. Note that the delimited text files must terminate with a DOS-style crlf.
I don't see any icon in the status bar after installing CN!Express AutoProcessor.
Go to Control Panel and open the Services window. Stop the CN!Express AutoProcessor service, then start it again. The icon will appear.
I can't seem to connect.
Visit the Tools and Utilities section of our downloads page. Run the HTTPS Utility. Check that you can reach the HTTPS URL provided by your processor.
Check with your IT person to be sure the Port you have entered for your Proxy server is correct. In some cases there are two port numbers on the proxy; one for HTTP and one for HTTPS.
I get certificate errors running on Windows 95 or 98.
Verify that you have installed Internet Explorer version 5.5 or later with 128-bit encryption, even if you are using Netscape or some other browser. This is necessary to obtain the root certificate and 128-bit encryption. If that all checks out and you still have problems, visit the Tools and Utilities section of our downloads page. Run both the Directory Services Client download and the Registry Update Utility there.
I can't get Install as Service to work.
You must be logged on with Administrator privileges on the machine to Install as Service.
My delimited .imp text files just sits in my Import folder.
First check that the AutoProcessor is not paused.
If the AutoProcessor is running, and you still have the problem, then pause and verify that your import directory is configured properly.
If you're positive your configuration points to the right directory, and it is on a network drive, go to Configure->Options and turn on polling. Be sure to click Resume.
Look at the filename from the command line. If you have Hide Extensions active, it is extremely easy to think you are looking at a file named "import.imp" when it is really called "import.imp.txt". Windows likes to hide useful information from you from time to time.
I can't Void or Refund a Completed Transaction. (SU)
I chose Credit as the action in the Active table, processed successfully, refund granted. I selected the trans in the Completed table, and went up to Transaction>Void, but it is greyed out. Any reason why?
You probably have the Truncate Account feature enabled. When Truncate Account is active, only the last four digits of the account are saved after processing is complete. This increases security while allowing you to maintain a record of transactions. You cannot create a refund or void from an existing closed transaction. There has to be a new transaction created to void the transaction that has been submitted to the processor.
Why do I get a sharing violation on my network when installed as a service?
There are several ways that this can occur. Generally this can be overcome by granting access rights across the network.
1.)You may not have access rights to the network drive you are trying to access. To verify where your files are, choose Configure>Directories. Also you can check the rights permissions of the application by (Windows 2000/NT/XP) going into the control panel, choosing services, and double clicking on the CN!Express AutoProcessor under services. This will bring you to a systems account utility.
2.)It has come to our attention that SAMBA may cause this type of problem. Please consult your systems administrator should you have this type of system.
What File Extensions can I use? (AP)
You may create your initial files in any extension you would like. The Important thing to remember is that the CN!Express Auto Processor will process the file extension that you have it set up for in the Configure>Options>File Extensions tab. (For Example: If you have the Auto Processor set up to accept .txt files then the Processor will only process .txt files and nothing else. The same is true for any of the options found there.)
Do you have a list of Web error codes?
The HTTP specification has a useful and clear set of error codes you may receive when communicating with a web site such as a payment gateway. You can find the information on this page.
